Dockside Beach, Clam River
Sandy and shallow on beautiful Torch Lake, this relatively small beach is also close to boat and jet ski rentals, and close to food, beverage and water related retail establishments. Next to The Dockside where Clam River meets Torch Lake, only 9 miles from Shanty Creek.
Barnes Park Campground, Eastport
Almost a quarter mile of sandy Lake Michigan beach, hiking trails and two pavillions. Located 18 miles northwest of Shanty Creek, take M-88 north to US-31. No entrance fee. 231.599.2712 for information.
Alden Ball Diamond, Alden
Another great Torch Lake swimming spot, located at the Little League Ball Park just south of Alden. Parking, restrooms, grills and picnic tables, plus shopping close by in the town of Alden. 12 miles from Shanty Creek.
Noteware’s Landing, Bellaire
The closest water access to Shanty Creek, Noteware’s has parking, restrooms, and great access to beautiful Lake Bellaire. Just north of North Lakes Rd. on Paradise Lane, only 2.5 miles from Shanty Creek. Shuttle service available upon request.
Elk Rapids Public Beach, Elk Rapids
Located at the end of River Street, this public beach offers a large sandy beach on the shores of Lake Michigan. Public restrooms with changing areas, picnic tables, grills, and a large grassy area for games, plus close proximity to downtown, make this a great beach. 26.5 miles from Shanty Creek.

Trails
Shanty Creek Resorts is situated in Antrim County, ski and bike country for Michigan. The area’s Chain of Lakes offers picturesque road rides and pristine Single track tails ranging in levels from beginner to advance. Antrim County has miles and miles of scenic, paved, relatively sparsely-traveled roads, many with small, paved shoulders. You can design rides of any length and difficulty.

Glacial Hills Pathway
(Free Shuttle Service to and From GHP)
Located less than 6 miles northwest of Shanty Creek, and encompasses 763 acres of beautiful rolling land with several loops and trail options. The trailhead and parking are located on Eckhardt Rd., just north of the Bellaire Highway with 31.5 miles of trails.
Sand Lakes Quiet Area
28 miles southwest of Shanty Creek, trails are on State Forest land on flat to hilly, hard packed terrain. Outer loop is 8 miles long with several cut-offs, circling several little lakes. 4 miles south of M-72 on Broomhead Rd.
North Country Trail
This portion of the NCT, running from NY to ND, is a
favorite with mountain bikers. Terrain varies from flat to very hilly, single track to gravel roads. Distances vary, with all rides out and back. Some sections may be closed to cyclists. Best access is off of County Rd. 38 (15 miles east of Shanty Creek), then riding south on the trail.
Vasa Single track Trail
Fast 13 miles of twisting single track wind along a DNR groomed trail with banked corners, allowing you to turn almost without braking. There are plenty of gentle whoop-de-dos on the straight portions of the trail for an added thrill. Located 35 Miles SW of Shanty Creek, at 9529 Supply Rd.
